Truth Tuesday- 1 Timothy 1:7

1 Timothy 1:7
desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say nor the things which they affirm.

The people from verse six who left the path God has set in place think they know everything (or at least more than those who have stayed on the path).  They want to teach others what's right and wrong, be put in a position of authority.  However if they don't see why the path (from which they strayed) was put in place in the first place, their own rules have no value and they tend to contradict themselves.  They don't even understand the consequences of what they are believing and backing.

One example that comes to my mind in the latter part of this verse (understanding neither what they say nor the things which they affirm) is the idea of the big bang theory and evolution to greater forms of a species.  I am a biochemist, but I am foremost a Christian who believes in creation.  In physics and physical chemistry, we are taught that the natural order is to go from order to chaos, higher energy to lower energy (2nd law of thermodynamics).  The theory of evolution per-claims that we have a common ancestor.  It states that life came from non-life through an unknown series of modifications.  The life then became more complex by passing the beneficial mutations to its offspring.  Now it has been said that the evolution process is very gradual, but as a biochemist, I find it taking more faith to believe in evolution than an Almighty Creator.  Using the non-life to life argument, Dr. Gange (author of Origins and Destiny) calculated that there are approximately 235 ebi (exponential bits of information) of all non-living matter in the entire Universe.  It was also calculated that in the smallest protein molecule needed for living systems has 1,500 ebi.  This shows there is not enough non-living matter to make up the necessary amount of ebi for the smallest protein.  Compare this to an e-coli bacteria that has 7 million ebi or even more a single human cell that has about 20 BILLION ebi.
As I'm studying for my biochemistry exam (which is blowing my mind), I notice how a simple overload of a hormone can cause the cascade to shut down and the body have a different reaction than when it was running constantly (like testosterone).  This effect is sometimes beneficial (glycolysis be blocked so gluconeogenesis can run), other times it is dangerous (overdose of vitamin D).  As a biochemist I find that evolution is impossible, our bodies (not to mention all of creation) are too complex to have been subject to random modifications that led to mutations that led to a complex system that is comprised of specifically driven cells (not to mention thoughts, morals, emotions, etc.)  How can those who claim to believe in evolution understand what that comprises of, and why do they believe it? (If you have an answer to this, please comment, for I truly want to know)

<3 God Bless
