Truth Tuesday- 1 Timothy 1:12
1 Timothy 1:12
And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry,
Christ is the one who gives us the abilities, on our own we can't do anything (Philippians 4:13). When we try, we may end at the same point, but we are nothing but angered and frustrated. We wasted all our energy walking when we could have been riding. In addition, He gives us gifts according to where He plans on putting us in the ministry. Paul goes into detail in 1 Corinthians 12 about how gifts from God work. We don't need to compare ourselves and our gifts to each other because we have been given a specific purpose that is not greater nor weaker than that of another member of the body of Christ. Yes some gifts and positions require more responsibility (such as the pastor and teachers), but those who are to be encouraging are just as needed (many times a word from them are needed for that moment more than a lecture from the greatest teacher). Jesus told us in Matthew 25:14-30 a story about a man giving his servants talents to invest for him as he was gone from the country. Notice he gave each of his servants the opportunity to make an investment, however he gave them what they could handle (and in the case of the one talent, the minimum amount while still giving him the chance). God gives each of His followers the opportunity to serve, what they do with it is their choice. I encourage you to determine what God has given you in terms of resources and use them to further His kingdom.
