Truth Tuesday- Philippians 1:1-2
Philippians 1:1
1. Paul and Timothy, bondservants of Jesus Christ,
To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:
2. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and Lord Jesus Christ.
1. As we noticed in 1 Timothy 1, Paul was discipling Timothy, therefore when writing to the people at Philippi, Timothy considered himself to be a bondservant for Christ just as Paul did.
As with all his letters, he gives the intended recipients of the words. Because this letter is to a group rather than an individual, he gives their location. Here he is speaking to a saved group (because he calls them saints in Christ Jesus) that are in an organized congregation (with the bishops and deacons as leaders).
2. They are given a blessing by Paul and Timothy because grace and peace from God and Jesus are wished upon them.
